Privacy policy

1. Who we are

This website (elitedancer.au) is operated by Gleissner Pty Ltd (ABN 55 144 756 301), trading as ELITE DANCER ("we", "us"). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Contact: info@elitedancer.au.

2. What we collect

Name, email, phone (if you give it), billing and delivery address; order, return and fitting details (e.g. shoe size, fit and heel preferences); messages you send us; account login details; and device and usage data (IP address, browser, pages viewed, cart activity) collected by cookies and similar tools. Payment card details are entered with our payment providers (Shopify Payments, PayPal) and are not stored by us.

3. How we collect it

Directly from you (checkout, account, email, social media messages, in-person fittings), automatically via our website, and from service providers such as payment, shipping and marketing platforms.

4. Why we use it

To process and deliver orders, handle returns, exchanges and warranty claims, give fitting advice, provide customer service, prevent fraud, meet legal and tax obligations, improve our website, and, if you agree, send marketing. We use it only for these purposes or related purposes you would reasonably expect, or as the law permits.

5. Marketing

We send marketing emails or SMS only with your consent, and every message has an unsubscribe link (Spam Act 2003). You can also opt out by emailing us.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We and our partners use cookies, pixels and similar technologies, including Shopify analytics, Google Analytics, Google Ads and, where enabled, Meta (Facebook/Instagram) pixels and PayPal's checkout scripts. They help run the store and the cart, measure visits, and show you relevant ads on other sites. You can manage this through our cookie/consent banner (where shown), your browser settings, Google Ad Settings, Google Analytics opt-out, and Meta ad preferences.

Customer lists (Google Customer Match and Meta Custom Audiences). We may share your email address or phone number with Google and Meta, and with the third parties they use to provide these services, in hashed (encrypted) form. They use it to show you relevant ads and to find people similar to our customers. They match it against their own accounts and delete data that doesn't match. You can opt out anytime by emailing info@elitedancer.au or by unsubscribing from our emails. You can also manage ads through Google Ad Settings and Meta ad preferences.

7. Who we share it with

Only with providers who help us run the business: Shopify (store hosting), Shopify Payments and PayPal (payments, including PayPal Pay in 4), Australia Post and other couriers, email and marketing tools, Google and Meta (analytics and advertising, including the customer lists in section 6), our accountants and IT support, and authorities where required by law. We do not sell your personal information.

8. Overseas disclosure

Some providers store or process data outside Australia, mainly in the United States, Canada, Ireland/the EU and Singapore (e.g. Shopify, PayPal, Google, Meta). We take reasonable steps to ensure they protect it to a standard consistent with the APPs.

9. Security and retention

We use reasonable safeguards, including secure hosted platforms and access controls. We keep records only as long as needed, including tax records for at least 5 years, and then delete or de-identify them.

10. Anonymity

You can browse and ask general questions without identifying yourself, but we need your details to fulfil an order.

11. Access and correction

You can ask to access or correct your personal information by emailing info@elitedancer.au. We'll respond within 30 days. There's no charge for a request, and if we refuse we'll tell you why.

12. Complaints

Email info@elitedancer.au with details. We'll acknowledge it within 7 days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992.

13. Data breaches

If a breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the OAIC as required.

14. Children

Our store is for adults. Under-18s should shop with a parent or guardian's involvement.

We may update this policy. The current version, with its date, is always on this page.
