Wellington Provincial DanceSport Championships — 2026 Competitor Guide
Share
This Wellington-region championship uses a One Dance format. It is particularly important to distinguish the event list used for entry from the live running order used on the day.

Entry status and eligibility
The published deadline was 27 September 2026, so it has passed. The NZFATD Wellington Centre runs the event under NZRDI rules; all dancers, including recreational dancers, must be registered. Pro/Am and Am/Am require a qualified professional or appropriately accredited amateur teacher.
Venue and timing
Kapiti College Sport and Recreation Centre, Margaret Road, Raumati Beach, Paraparaumu. The entry pack states doors open 9:30am. Its initial 10am start differs from the live programme’s first listed event at 10:30am; use the live programme for the running order.
Fees and format
The entry pack lists NZD $30 for competitors and $10 for spectators. Each level’s dances are intended to run consecutively. Categories include graded Standard, Latin and New Vogue, recreational, solo and partnered-teacher events.
Marshalling and presentations
Marshal at least five events ahead. Be ready for consecutive dances and remain in competition dress for finalist presentations. An event list is not a timetable; check the live programme again before leaving for the venue.
Your preparation checklist
For this weekend, focus on your existing entry confirmation and the updated running order. Save the live programme link on your phone and make a short list of your event numbers. Agree with your partner where to meet after each round so a back-to-back call does not become a scramble.
Check the shoes you already train in before deciding whether anything needs replacing. Use our fit and sizing guide and shoe-care and heel-protector guide. Trial changes during practice, with enough time to resolve fit issues before competing.
