The Energy Advance DanceSport WA Open takes place at Curtin Stadium on Saturday 21 November 2026. Although the competition is in November, entries close in early October. That makes choosing your events the first job, followed by preparing for the venue's specific footwear and changing requirements.

By 4 October: confirm your entries
Write down the exact events you want to dance, then check each one against your registration, age group, grade and the current conditions. If you are entering with a coach or professional partner, agree the complete list together before making payment.
Check the dances rather than relying on a previous competition's programme. The WA Open conditions say New Vogue selections will align with the 2026 Australian Championship and will be announced when available. Confirm the latest version with your coach before locking in your practice priorities.
Keep your entry confirmation and payment record together. Check names and event selections while there is still time to raise a question with the organiser. If you are completing entries from interstate, use the stated Western Australian deadline rather than assuming your local clock is the event's clock.
Heel protectors and where to keep your gear
The venue conditions require heel protectors for all competitors wearing high-heeled shoes on both the competition floor and practice area. The same conditions direct hair and makeup to an allocated area, rather than the foyer or auditorium. Costumes and dance bags must remain in the provided changing or warm-up space, rather than at auditorium tables. Pack so that you can retrieve what you need without unpacking everything in a public area.
A small, clearly organised essentials kit is useful here: number attachments, necessary costume fastenings, spare protectors and the items needed for your next change. Label similar-looking shoe bags and agree with your partner where shared items will be kept.
Build your November preparation around the actual event
Once entered: make a training plan with your coach that reflects your selected dances and any costume changes. Use practice sessions to check that each outfit stays secure in movement and that shoes remain comfortable through the work you expect to do.

Before travelling to Curtin: save Building 111 and the event's arrival instructions, then check campus access and your route. Interstate travellers should work through baggage allowances, transfers and accommodation before the final week, leaving a sensible margin around their expected competition commitments.
