2026 venue and arrival

Entry route and deadline
The published closing date was 14 August at 4pm 2026. Use the event’s DanceSport Online page and linked entry instructions. For future dates, entry costs or unresolved category questions, contact secretary@dancesportcanterbury.org.nz.
Rules and the dance programme
NZRDI rules and dress code applied. The pack allowed dancers to enter their grade and the one above; verify any Masters interpretation with the organiser. Heel caps were required for ladies’ dance shoes and other stiletto heels. Events could be combined, removed or danced simultaneously.
Reading the event name
The Southern Alps programme included graded couples, recreational singles, all-comers, novelty, partnered-teacher and professional categories. Check the exact conditions before moving between sections.
Your preparation checklist
For a school-hall venue, prepare a compact changing and shoe-care kit rather than assuming hotel facilities. Check your precise dance list with your teacher and keep heel protectors fitted where required. If two entered sections share the floor, follow your own event number and marshalling call rather than another couple’s movements.
Check the shoes you already train in before deciding whether anything needs replacing. Use our fit and sizing guide and shoe-care and heel-protector guide. Trial changes during practice, with enough time to resolve fit issues before competing.
