The Australasian is SATD’s October championship in Sydney. Its programme spans registered, social, individual and professional categories, so choosing the correct section is the first preparation step.

Entries and deadlines

Use the entry form on SATD’s event page. Events without entries by 8 October 2026 may be deleted; late entries depend on whether the programme can accommodate them. This is not an unconditional late-entry offer.

Who can dance?

The syllabus includes Standard, Latin, New Vogue, Classical Sequence, American Smooth/Rhythm and other categories. Read the age, grade and permitted-partner rules for your exact event. ADB figure, arm-line and dress restrictions apply to registered E Grade events.

Admission and arrival

Doors open at 9am. Presale admission is AUD $35 for under-16s and $60 for adults/seniors/masters; door prices are $45 and $70. Spectators are $20. Presale ticket orders close 12 October; send orders to dance@satd.com.au using the official form.

On the competition floor

Be in marshalling three events ahead. Lead/follow roles stay fixed for the event, with specified professional/coach exceptions. Livestreaming is prohibited. Check the final programme for session and presentation timing.

Your preparation checklist

Write down the event number beside each dance you are preparing. Review any partner or role restrictions with your teacher before submitting the entry. Keep your admission order and competition entry together, but check both are complete. For a full-day visit, plan food and costume changes around your own events rather than an assumed lunch break.

Check the shoes you already train in before deciding whether anything needs replacing. Use our fit and sizing guide and shoe-care and heel-protector guide. Trial changes during practice, with enough time to resolve fit issues before competing.
