Rose City DanceSport Championships — 2026 Reference & Competitor Guide
Share
Rose City’s 30th-anniversary edition had separate day and evening sessions, plus different entry costs for partnered-teacher events. Those details are useful when deciding how much of a future championship day to attend.
Past edition reference. The 2026 edition has passed. This guide preserves the published competitor information as a reference. Dates, prices and rules must be checked again for the next edition.

2026 venue and sessions
Fly Palmy Arena (Arena 2), Pascal Street, Palmerston North. Day doors opened 9am; recreational/ProAm/AmAm started 9:30am, with DanceSport from 10:30am. Evening doors reopened 5:45pm for 6:30pm. There was a between-session lockout except for VIP ticket holders.
Entries and admission
Entries and payment closed 5 August; no late entries were accepted. The organiser required email entries to swdancenz@gmail.com, followed by acknowledgement and payment instructions. Competitor all-day admission was NZD $45 adult or $40 junior, juvenile and recreational aged 15 or under, including a programme.
Eligibility and marshalling
NZRDI rules applied. Masters 2 and 3 could enter only one additional age group. Marshal at least four events ahead; competitors had to be ready for continuous dancing. ProAm/AmAm event fees were additional to competitor admission.
Planning ahead
For a new edition, confirm whether the session structure, lockout, ticket packages and entry-by-email process remain the same. Do not send payment using an old programme’s banking instructions.
Your preparation checklist
Choose admission around the sessions you and your supporters actually need. A lockout means bags, meals and meeting arrangements need planning between sessions. With email entry, keep the organiser’s acknowledgement and check every event number; sending the message alone does not prove the entry was processed.
Check the shoes you already train in before deciding whether anything needs replacing. Use our fit and sizing guide and shoe-care and heel-protector guide. Trial changes during practice, with enough time to resolve fit issues before competing.
