Oceania DanceSport Championship 2026: Competitor & Preparation Guide

The Oceania DanceSport Championship takes place at ICC Sydney on Saturday 3 October 2026. With the event close, useful preparation means checking your admission, confirming your own events and arriving with equipment you trust. This guide brings those decisions together, with official links for the details only the organiser can confirm.

Already entered? Check these three things first

Open your entry confirmation and compare it with the latest event information. Check both partners' names, the age and grade of each event, and whether payment is complete. Save a copy on your phone so you can find it without searching through email at the venue.

Next, write down the dances for each event you have entered. A syllabus is a list of what is offered; it is not a personal running order. Ask your coach to check anything unfamiliar and make one simple event list that both partners can use.

Finally, establish when you need to be ready. Work backwards from your earliest relevant event, allowing time for arrival, changing, hair and makeup, collecting your number and a familiar warm-up. Do not treat the published first event time as your personal arrival instruction.

Day tickets and evening admission are different

The official syllabus distinguishes day-only admission from the evening Gala Ball and day/night tickets. A day ticket does not include evening entry. Competitors dancing in the evening need appropriate day/night or Gala Ball admission; check your purchase against your events.

This matters for supporters as well as dancers. Before making dinner or transport plans, confirm who is staying for the evening and what their ticket covers. Optional pre-event masterclasses at Sydney Ballroom

For dancers arriving before Oceania, Sydney Ballroom has announced four masterclasses on 1–2 October 2026. These are separate activities with their own bookings and fees; an Oceania entry or ballroom ticket should not be treated as a masterclass booking.

• Thursday 1 October, 8pm: Earle & Veronika.
• Friday 2 October, 6pm: Charles-Guillaume & Elena.

Times are local to Sydney. Announced prices are A$75 for one session, A$125 for two or A$200 for all four. The announcement says bookings are essential and tickets are available online or at the door. Confirm availability before travelling rather than assuming a walk-in place.

Your final preparations for ICC Sydney

Make the journey part of your competition plan. Save the venue name and the event's arrival instructions, check the route from your accommodation, and allow time to navigate the venue with costumes and bags. If driving, verify parking access and costs before departure. If flying, check your airline's current baggage rules and keep essential competition items accessible where practical.

Lay out a complete outfit for each style, including the small pieces that are easy to miss: socks or hosiery, jewellery that complies with your category, hair accessories and number attachments. Pack any change of clothing separately so that a rushed costume change does not turn into a search through your entire bag.

Check shoe straps, buckles, heels and soles now. Use familiar footwear that is secure and comfortable in movement; an untested size or heel change is an avoidable complication this close to an event. For your final practice, agree a small number of priorities with your coach. Rehearse starting together, recovering from an interruption and finishing cleanly. Keep the competition-day plan simple enough that both partners understand it without another long conversation backstage.

Can I still enter Oceania 2026?

The published entry deadline has passed and the syllabus rules out late entries. Contact the organiser about an existing entry query; do not assume that a visible online sign-in form means new entries are being accepted.

Where should I check my running order?
